Kingfisher:

Snowing, all at once came on autoplay after listening through Coma Cinema's Blue Suicide. Their use of diffused acoustics, sporadic but well timed harmonic runs, and decided electronic — occasionally noisy — interludes are reminiscent of Coma Cinema, but delivered at a more leisurely pace. Their album from November 2022, Grip Your Fist, I'm Heaven Bound, has a well deserved seat in this years autumn playlist.

Giles Corey:

A single album project by former Have a Nice Life member, Dan Barrett, there's no wonder every track of this album is refined and intentional. Having heard one or two of the album's hits in scattered playlists, I only recently listened through the entirety of it. Songs like Spectral Bride and Grave Filled with Books (the standout track for me) nod to a slowcore disposition with some tinny falsettos and echo-y strumming not unlike the signature style of Bon Iver — while The Haunting Presence and similar are closer to dark-folk and alt-country. A great mix of grainy distortion and reverberating acoustic beats are a little less ethereal and more tangible than his work as Have a Nice Life. A 10/10 concept project.

Lily Talmers:

A predominately acoustic lo-fi indie sound. With their latest release being a double album in summer 2022, a new single could help garner more interest in this artist who is not quite yet "on the map".

Girl with Fish:

feeble little horse is an example of what happens when you mix familiar lo-fi indie with what I can only describe as "grunge-folk". Girl with Fish was released early this summer and is becoming a sophomore album worth remembering; staying true to the style the group defined with their first album, Hayday, but expanding on the intricacies of their instrumentals. This too made it into the autumn playlist.
